The 2018 Governor's Healthcare Economic Summit will be held on August 16th at the Jackson Convention Center. This year, the MSBGH is partnering with Governor Phil Bryant, the Mississippi Economic Council, the Mississippi Development Authority, and the Mississippi Medical Association to co-host the event. This event will bring together Mississippi employers, healthcare professionals, and national leadership to discuss the economic impact of healthcare in our state, with Mississippi employers, and the communities access the state.
Dr. Ben Carson, the US Secretary for the Department of Housing and Urban Development will be the lunchtime keynote speaker. Other speakers will include an employer panel made up of Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company, Ingalls Shipbuilding, and Trustmark Bank. Healthcare speakers included are from the President of the American Medical Association, the Chief Academic Officer from the Cleveland Clinic, the CEO of United Health Care - Gulf South, the Dean of the School of Nursing at UMMC, and the Dean of the medical school at William Carey University. Several speakers will discuss economic development and the economic impact study "An Investment in the Health and Economy of Mississippi and the Gulf Coast" will be released during the event.
Dr. Clay Hays, the Chair of the MEC Healthcare Solutions institute will kick off the day with a welcome and introduce Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant.
